Seattlest Gift Guide: Gifts for Sports Fans
Wondering what to get that Seattle sports fan on your list? Here’s a few last minute gift ideas for every type of athletic supporter.
For the collector: Check out the authentic 1930s sports programs from Gasoline Alley Antiques. Or, for something from more recent Seattle history, an old Sonics or Griffey jersey would do the trick.
For the visual learner: You could be really generous and spring for season tickets, but a more realistic - but no less thoughtful - present would be single game tickets for your sports-loving friend. If they ask you to come to the game with them, bonus for you.
For the history buff: Know someone really into sports history? Pick up a copy of Jim Bouton’s Ball Four, which looks at the short-lived Seattle Pilots franchise, or Runs, Hits and an Era: The Pacific Coast League for baseball fans. Tales From the Supersonics Hardwood would be an interesting read for someone longing for the days of Seattle hoops. The Great Book of Seattle Sports Lists covers all bases, and Pete Carroll’s tome Win Forever: Live, Work, and Play Like a Champion might appeal to a Seahawks fan or self-help aficionado.
For the fanatic: Local teams have lots of gear to choose from, like a Sounders scarf or a Seahawks parka for those rainy games. Is the sports fan on your list more likely to wear their team pride in a different way? Then why not put some Husky purple face paint or Mariners temporary tattoos in their stocking?
For the animal lover: You could buy your UW fan friend a husky - or maybe just a Husky dog collar - or make a donation to a local raptor rescue center for a Seahawks or Redhawks follower.
For the everyday athlete: Glass Bangers is a local company that offers a bunch of cool sports themed t-shirts. We personally like the “I’d Hit That” hockey puck t-shirt and the old school Seattle Metropolitans logo.
For the foodie: If your mom’s favorite things are baking and Husky basketball, then these UW cupcake liners might be right up her alley. And we’re pretty sure someone on your list would love a Mariners apron.
For the tailgater: Help your friend pre-game in style with a Seahawks beer pong table. And food will taste just that much better with this UW Huskies grill.
