Update! Danksgiving Comes Early This Year. Reason to Give Thanks
Sadly due to snow and the fact that Capital Hill consists entirely of hills, this show is cancelled. But don't fret, Miss Dank has promised to reschedule. Yay!
If you haven't had the experience of seeing Lisa Dank live, you're missing out on something really spectacular. She's pretty wild and out there, definitely not meant as a family show. Our first encounter was pretty recent; she performed at the Sunset Tavern for Reverb Music Festival. When people wonder what she's like, the description we use most often is a local version of Lady Gaga. She's a super sweet person that absolutely adores her fans, she creates new outfits for practically every show, and constantly connects with people during and after her shows as well as on Twitter. You could say we're big fans. Even for someone who isn't into dance or electronica-pop, the show is worth seeing at least once. Happily humping her way across the stage or tossing her hair with wild abandon, it's one show you don't want to miss.
We first thought Danksgiving was a celebration of the woman as a play on her alter ego's last name (born Juliane Popelka) , but upon further research it's oh so more than that. Apparently Danksgiving is a widespread holiday typically held the Sunday after Thanksgiving where alcohol or weed is added as an ingredient to thanksgiving-style foods (such as pot brownies and cannabutter mashed potatoes). Lisa, however, is bringing it early with a release party for her new tape. That's right folks, tape. She's really excited about the new "pressing" and will be giving away other Dank-tastic trinkets as well. We've been looking forward to this ever since we found out about it. We think you should join the madness, just be prepared for it to get nuts.
