NWFF Shows "The Anchorage," May Start Serving Drinks

anchorage_feature.gif We felt like we missed out on giving the Northwest Film Forum some attention in our Week in Film, so here we are back again hoping to get the word out on an a really fascinating film they're going to be showing this week, called The Anchorage.

We've been hearing some great things about about this one. The scuttlebutt is that it's a quiet, meditative film that gets you lost in its details, and to us, slow and meditative is pitch-perfect for what is apparently going to be a rainy, windy fall.

The film follows an old woman who lives off the coast of Norway whose life revolves around her daily habits, such as taking a relaxing dip in the Baltic Sea. The woman's daily tasks are captured in an almost documentary style, showing in painstaking detail the simple quiet existence she lives. We've heard that while it's very deliberately paced, it unfolds into a really beautiful film. We're hoping to get out and see it this weekend, especially if the fall weather really does kick in, as expected.

Director C.W. Winter is expected to be in attendance at screenings through Sunday. There will also be an official Q&A on Saturday night with Winter in attendance as well.

In other quick news about NWFF, in a post on its blog, the organization revealed a mysterious liquor license application. We don't have any details yet on when they plan on rolling out service and what booze they plan on serving, but rest assured, Northwest Film Forum looks to be joining Central Cinema as a theaters where you'll be able to enjoy a movie and a tasty adult beverage at the same time.
