If the shows we've previewed for Friday don't sound interesting, be sure to catch Head Like a Kite with Brent Amaker and the Rodeo. They are not to be missed and Head Like a Kite will most likely, as they usually do, have guest performers jump on stage with them. You never know who you're going to get, but it'll always be an amazing time. As if that weren't enough Brent Amaker is an amazing entertainer and singer. Add in the Rodeo and he'll have your booty shaking cowboy-style. Let us know where you've been and where you're going! So far we've had a blast, wednesday night's shows and looking forward to tonight's. Meanwhile Seattlest is running rampant through the rest of the fest, so check out these shows to end your week with a bang.

Portland's fairy tale folksters Blitzen Trapper, joined by kindred folky-rockers Fruit Batsat The Showbox Market. Described as "Romantic americana," Blitzen Trapper has been pegged for their unique sound and stellar live performances. Their latest release, Destroyer of The Void dropped earlier this summer has been embraced by the critics- the worst thing Pitchfork had to say about it was that "...Blitzen Trapper can travel to a more astral plane on its next album. After all, they've already blazed the trail." With songs about the moon, bowing trees, wizards and murder ballads, we can't help but expect good stuff.

The Vaselines: Neumos // Doors 7 p.m., Show 8 p.m. // 21+ // tix $20 advanced

The Vaselines may not be in your mp3 library, but they are bound to sound at least a little familiar to Seattle. They formed in '87 and broke up in '89, the same week their first album was released. Why in the heck do they sound so familiar then? They would have disappeared like so many bands have in the past if it weren't for Nirvana covering a few of their songs, one of which was on their MTV unplugged album, "Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam". Frances and Eugene continued performing with other bands and occasionally collaborating but weren't interested in a reunion... until now. They've reformed and released a new album 20 years later to a ready-made fan base not only due to NIrvana fame, but also their own fantastic music in and of itself. You can grab a free download of Sex with an x from their new album to get a little taste of what's coming. We're looking forward to what they're bringing to the stage.

The Dum Dum Girls are opening for this great band, which is a little serendipitous since The Vaselines' first album was Dum Dum. Their music style may be labeled as indie pop but their influences are heavily in the 80's punk scene with a little blues mixed in. They've enjoyed a small following in LA with limited vinyl releases, then put out a full-length earlier this year. There's definitely been a buzz around them so make sure you get to the show before the main act and see what the fuss is about.

At this fireside chat, hosted at the Seattle 100 studio, Seattle born-and-raised photographer Chase Jarvis and City Arts executive editor Mark Baumgarten will discuss the process behind finding and photographing the Seattle 100. The two will also be joined by a variety of the Seattle taste-makers involved in Jarvis' Seattle 100 project. Jarvis' illuminating photography book comes to life in a round table discussion with topics ranging from sustainability to music to culture to art and to the creative potency that diffuses through our city. This is shaping up to be a fascinating conversation about the city with some of its most intriguing creative leaders.
