Seeing the Maldives Will Only Cost You Your Email

Filter Magazine is going local. It's offering a Seattle show featuring the Maldives Wednesday night and free entry to any and everybody that goes to the music sessions page and signs up. It may be an attempt to get a larger web-based audience by compiling a whole new list of emails, but let's hope not.

Just so you're not left in the dark, we signed up to see what happens. You give some personal info, which is expected, then they send you an activation link. After your account is created it says "You're on the list, see you there!" We attempted to delve into the site, thinking there was more to it than that, but apparently not, at least for now. It's worth a shot, and the promise of at least one free show ain't bad, especially with the lineup they've got for you.

Having Filter involved could present some amazing opportunities for local bands to be seen and heard not only by Seattleites but possibly all Filter readers. The first show is worth going to even if you had to pay, with the Horde and the Harem and the Maldives bringin' the noise (and possibly some funk). Chop Suey is a surprising venue for the Maldives to perform in, but it could turn out to be exquisite given the proximity of the stage to the floor and audience. While the band is made up of several musicians, they are best experienced at the up-close and personal level.

Wednesday, September 29 // Chop Suey // FREE (if you sign up here)
