Can't Miss It: Tuesday
AUGUST IN PORTUGAL: Northwest Film Forum will be showing the SIFF standout Our Beloved Month of August tonight. With both documentary and fictional narrative, Miguel Gomes's film can be described as an indigenous travelogue created by tourists, as he travels to rural Portugal to attempt to make a film. Gomes soon realizes how difficult it can be to make films in remote areas, though he is still able to capture the beauty of the village people and the nuances of their lives in rural Portugal. If you are in need of a little sunshine today, we'd highly recommend making it out for this film.
8 p.m. // Northwest Film Forum // Tickets: $6-9
BURN IT UP: The "electrifying" Latin and ballroom dance performance Burn the Floor will be playing at The Paramount Theatre for this week only, coming directly from Broadway. Overall, 20 champion dancers will be featured in this not-to-be-missed theatrical experience.

FRANZEN TALKS FREEDOM: The lit. world has been buzzing around Jonathan Franzen's latest novel, Freedom, for the past couple weeks (Remember that little Twitter of Jennifer Weiner's?) and we could not be more excited that he's finally here in Seattle. Franzen will be lecturing on autobiography and fiction writing, as he kicks off the beginning of Seattle Arts & Lectures' 2010-11 Literary/Arts Series. Single tickets still available!
