Bumbershoot: Goodbye Decision-Making Blues
Making a decision on which way to go and when, what act or event to see, what friends must be ditched, which set must be sacrificed for another, it's all part of the music and arts festival experience. For some, decisions are last-minute and marked by torture; for others each day is planned in advance, each step decided long before the gates even open. But if you're the kind of person that likes to take it easy, set up camp in one spot and take the music as it comes, we'd like to suggest two worthy sites -- The Broad Street Stage or Northwest Court Stage.
For a constant parade of independent energy, stake your claim at the Broad Street Stage. Today alone sees pop duo The Submarines, rock group Plants and Animals, Atlas Sound, funky white boy Jamie Lidell, indefatigable Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and Danish synth rockers The Ravonettes. Sunday and Monday's lineups are just as entertaining. For a full list, click here.
With rain in the forecast, there's one place to look for warm refuge, Northwest Court Stage. The music here ranges from easy jazz to solo acoustic to chamber pop. Saturday sees Caspar Babypants - Chris Ballew's "kindie" project, local arts project The Round, which we've loved before, and excellent experi-soul artist Shawn Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra. Sunday's dedicated to intimate jazz, and Monday tops off with Chris Pureka and Loch Lomond, among others. For the full schedule, click here.
Whether you want to kick back, boogie down, get on up, or simply crash out without having to worry about where to be and when, these two stages have a ton to offer from beginning to end.
