Too Punk for Bumbershoot? Try Bumblefuck.
So we are obvious lovers of all things Bumbershoot. From the music, comedy , film and beyond, we’ve had your bases covered. It’s totally the Prom Queen of the Seattle arts scene and that’s all well and good. But you know what? Not everyone is down with the Prom Queen, in fact, some people don’t even go to high school let alone prom. These people are often known as punks. Or, since this is 2010, hipsters. Yeah, we said it.
For those who want to get rowdy to music and either don’t have the dough or the desire to hit up the Seattle Center monolith there is a great alternative. It’s cheekily referred to as BumbleFuck, and it’s going to tear Labor Day weekend a new one.
Hosted at the Belltown Underground Events Center, home of the Punk Rock Flea Market, the music starts at 3 p.m. on Saturday and the shack (read: basement) will be shaking til 2 a.m. and will play host to 16 of the regions finest local bands. From metal to rock to electro-pop, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy. We are especially excited about Partman Parthorse, A Gun That Shoots Knives, Curious Mystery, and Dudamana. You should be too.
Representing the absolute best of the underground ethos, the show organizers are keeping the cost at a mere $5. Or, if you don’t have the Lincoln to shell out, you are welcome to bring canned food donations or art supplies in lieu of cash.
Normally in an article like this we would link you to some awesome website to learn more, but these guys are way too hip for that, so you’ll just have to take out word on it.
