ADOPTION IRONY: What do you get when a gay married couple adopts a "child" to only find out that they are actually adopting a homophobic surly teenager? (We have a feeling that you guessed correctly.) The SIFF stand-out Patrick 1.5 details this exact situation after married couple Goran and Sven struggle to adopt the baby that Goren has always dreamed of fathering. Though this film sounds tightly wrapped up in a cutesy little package, we promise that you won't walk away feeling disappointed--the characters are absolutely lovely and even though the film is set in Sweden, you can't help but think about our own country's practices of prejudice when it comes to situations such as these.

7:10, 9:20 p.m. // Varsity Theatre // Tickets: $7-10

PLENTY OF MUSIC TO GO AROUND: The Can Can will be holding their weekly Artist in Residence Night tonight with Oakland bass player James Whiton, acoustic guitar player Danny Godinez and other surprise special guests. For us, there is nothing quite better than going to the Can Can on a Tuesday night rather than on the weekend. The shows are much cheaper yet just as great, there's room to sit without feeling like a sardine, and ladies--the bathroom lines are nonexistent.

8 p.m. // Can Can // Tickets: $5-45

MEAN BUNNY: World-renowned film archivist Dennis Nyback returns to the Grand Illusion tonight to bring us more of the rare and banned cartoons that Warner Brother's hoped we had all forgotten about in Bad Bugs Bunny. And this is not the wascally wabbit we all remember from childhood. Comprised of ten compressed cartoons, Bad Bugs Bunny shows the darker side of our country's past through one of America's all-time favorite cartoon characters as a racist, sexist and overall downright violent bunny. "Come, if you dare, and peek beyond the sanitized curtain of political correctness that everyone is so concerned with these days." And though we're stating the obvious, we'd highly recommend not bringing the kids to this film.

7, 9 p.m. // Grand Illusion // Tickets: $8
