Melrose Market Joins the Block Party Circuit

RainShadowParty.jpg Capitol Hill just keeps churning out new block parties. Melrose Market, the nexus of all that is hip, local and appetizing, is throwing its own street festival on Sunday, September 12.

If you haven't yet been to the market situated inside a refurbished auto row, you are missing out on a carefully curated group of restaurants, food shops and stores. It's a fantastic display of our local bounty, minus the hordes of tourists at our city's more famous market. In addition to its piles of fervent local coverage, Melrose Market got some love from the New York Times recently.

Local chef rock star Matt Dillon will be manning an outdoor grill, which is enough to ensure this Seattlest's attendance. The outdoor beer garden and additional drinks being poured by Still Liquor and Bar Ferdinand doesn't hurt either (proceeds proceeds benefit Seattle Tilth). And when a killer meat market and cheese phenom are involved, the food offerings are bound to be good.

Since the party gets started at 10 a.m. and lasts 'til 8 p.m., you'll have plenty of time to browse the flowers and produce at Marigold & Mint and do some shopping at Velouria or Sonic Boom before turning your attention to food and libations.
