Splashing around Seattle's midsummer weekend

Leaping for joy.JPG

It was the best of times, it was the hottest of times.

Sunday happened to be the Feast of the Assumption, known as Ferragosto in Italy and celebrated for what seems like the whole month by the entire country. Here in Seattle, we only have one weekend, though we sure made the most of it, from the South Lake Union Block Party to Seattle Founders Day in Belltown to wine festivals in Bellevue and Bremerton. There was even a Ferragosto cocktail at Osteria La Spiga for the 12th Avenue party on Capitol Hill. (Hey, didn't they just have a festival last weekend? Party on, dudes!) But the most sheer fun was at the Canlis Block Party on Queen Anne. Burgers, watermelon...and water from a fire hose.
