Help Provide School Tools for Kids in Need

As September nears, we can’t help but feel nostalgic for our elementary school days. Remember the rush of excitement you felt when presented with your back-to-school shopping list? It seems like only yesterday we were agonizing over which Trapper Keeper or Pee Chee design to select. Not to mention countless negotiations in an effort to secure the larger box of crayons. In hindsight this may seem trivial but for children, having the right school supplies is imperative to one's success.

A startling 58,000 local children may be ill-equipped to start school in the fall. You can make a difference in these lives by donating the tools they need to excel in the classroom. Simply stop by any Bartell Drug location in King, Pierce or Snohomish County through August 29 to make your contribution. Teachers in the Puget Sound region whose students qualify for free or reduced lunch will be able to “shop” for these items at World Vision’s Teacher Resource Center. Some suggestions for basic needs include:

  • Rulers
  • #2 Pencils
  • Blue or black pens
  • Glue
  • Kid-friendly scissors
  • Erasers
  • Binders - 1/2" or 1" sizes
  • Crayons
  • Highlighter markers

The Seattle Storm are also hosting a special "Back-to-School Night" game on August 21. World Vision and Bartell Drugs will on hand to collect your donations at the game.
