Can't Miss It: Thursday

GoldenGardensLuau.gif OOOH WOW, LU'AU: Find a better Lu'au than the Golden Gardens Lu'au. We dare you. It features a traditional roasted pig cooked by Scott Staples (Quinn's, Zoe), Hawaiian pizzas by Via Tribunali, an open bar with Mai Tais by Havana, a SnoCon volleyball tournament (4 p.m.- 6:30 p.m.), and performances by THEESatisfaction, Kore Ionz, TRNTDRM, Canary Sing, and Gabriel Mintz. Taking place at Golden Gardens' beachfront Bathhouse. It's all to benefit the Service Board, a local mentoring program that empowers youth to overcome obstacles and build strong community through snowboarding...and public service, and a curriculum of social justice.

6:00 p.m. // Golden Gardens Bathhouse 8498 Seaview Place NW // $75, $30 for mentors, $60 volleyball tournament (includes admission and volleyball participation), $15 for students, 12 and under free

WHAT IT'S ALL A BOAT: We're tired of all our friends laughing at us and calling us landlubbers. And how when we want to go out, they say "No thanks, I'm gonna wax my boat and go wakeboarding," you know, just to rub it in. Well we've had it! We're ready for a boat show, and not one that's our grandfather's boat show, no we want the good stuff. So bring on the Seattle Boat Show. With free standup paddleboard lessons, wakeboard demos, 90-minute sailboat rides, and a German beer garden from Greenwood's Prost, this boat show doesn't even need any boats to show. Oh, but it's got boats to show. Like more than 150 new and preowned beauties, up to 74 feet in length. They've got gear, supplies, and accessories, and all that good poop. Water party.

12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. // Shilshole Bay Marina, 7001 Seaview Ave. N.W. // $10 adults, $5 kids, free for people 10 and under

HIGH AND MIGHTY: This is what Doug Benson has done with his life: He was featured on Comedy Central's Best Week Ever, appeared as a contestant on Last Comic Standing (finishing sixth and losing to a bunch of people who don't get to be in this post), starred in his own documentary Super High Me AND won High Times Stoner of the Year Award in 2006, he hosts a cinephile podcast called Doug Loves Movies, which is recorded at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in L.A., managed to get Canada to force him to apologize for comments he made about its military (maaaybe deservedly), and he's made friends with Adam Carolla, Sarah Silverman, Zach Galifianakis and David Cross. In other words, he's won what can probably be considered the silver medal of comedic showbiz. Pretty good for someone who smokes more weed than...what were we talking about? Appearing with Graham Elwood.

7:30 p.m. // Parlor Billiards Lincoln Square, Bellevue // $25-$30
