The Grand Illusion Theater Needs Your Help

If you're a film enthusiast, you might want to check out a recent blog post on the Grand Illusion's website, it seems that Seattle's 'oldest continously running movie theater' is having some serious financial troubles that are similar to what the Northwest Film Forum went through last year. Due to the bad economy, donations and attendance are down and the theater is facing drastic cutbacks or even closure. But members (and a couple generous grants) joined forces to get the Film Forum back on its feet recently, and your Seattlest firmly believes that a movie loving town like Seattle can do the same and rally behind The Grand Illusion now that they need it.

If you haven't been in a while, you can get the best of what the theater has to offer with the kind of films they're showing over the weekend. Early in the evening they're playing Johanna, a Hungarian take on the Joan of Arc story, and following it is their second weekend of Vampire Girl Vs. Frankenstein Girl at midnight. A $30 membership will get you $5 ticket prices and invitation to special screenings throughout the year.
