Local Nonprofit One Day's Wages Taps TMBG, OK Go, The Moondoggies + More for "Songs for a Cause"

Many adjectives have been used to describe our beloved city over the years and one that’s stuck around for a bit too long is apathetic.

Sure, you’ll still hear the phrase “Seattle Freeze” bandied about from time to time but when it comes down to it, we’ve got some of the most considerate (and generous) citizens on the planet.

We won’t dispute that we’ve learned some hard lessons and have done a 180 in some areas but really we’re holistically a city that deeply cares.

On the heels of this year’s State of Volunteering in America report, which ranks Seattle as #4 in average volunteer rates for large cities, Seattle-based One Day’s Wages seeks to tap into that goodwill by raising funds through selling a fundraising album.

One Day’s Wages presents Songs for a Cause, Volume 1.

Today, the local nonprofit organization, which describes itself as “an international grassroots movement dedicated to ending extreme global poverty,” has announced the release of 21-song compilation, Songs for a Cause, Vol. 1, which features 21 local and national musicians.

As you’ll see by the full tracklist below, the album boasts many impressive names ranging national treasures such as They Might Be Giants and OK Go to local favorites including The Moondoggies, Rocky Votolato, David Bazan and many more.

Even more impressive, “100% of the album sales (minus credit card costs) go directly to projects to fight global poverty.”
