Banyan Branch and Hotel Max Invite You to Celebrate Social Media Day
You likely encounter social media on a daily basis. Whether you’re a Facebook noob or have a Twitter following so vast even Ashton Kutcher’s jealous, it’s become an integral part of most lives. For those not familiar with the term, social media are content shared via the web and various technological platforms. It’s the photos you share on Flickr, the resume you post on LinkedIn and the stories you read on your Seattlest.
Social media have come a long way from the days when everyone was “friends” with Tom and before a unicorn named Charlie became a household name. Businesses across the globe have taken notice, engaging consumers and reaping the benefits of all that social media have to offer. Even children have joined the mix with sites like Club Penguin and KidSwirl offering an early introduction. To recognize its immense impact and “celebrate the revolution of media becoming social,” Mashable has declared June 30 “Social Media Day.”
Banyan Branch and Hotel Max invite you to join them as Seattle celebrates in style. Stop by The Living Room from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday to savor the sounds of DJ Tigerbeat as you mingle with fellow enthusiasts. You can even track down one of your gracious hosts (@knitpurl, @JessEstrada, @andyfortson or @alexgarcia) for a celebratory drink ticket.
