Budding Filmmakers Debut at SAM Tomorrow

Is there anyone in Seattle who has room in their brain for more films? Heck yeah, there is. Ours is a city that loves our movies, from the slick Hollywood productions to international grit at SIFF to lower budget independent films at STIFF, we just can’t seem to get enough. And thankfully, the community keeps cranking them out for our viewing pleasure.
For those who are interested in amateur filmmaking, (let’s not get all upset about the use of the word amateur, it’s not meant to be a slur) Thursday night is basically your Oscar night. Thursday at the Seattle Art Museum, the graduating students from Seattle Central community College’s Film and Video program are showcasing their works to an audience. Spanning the genres including drama, documentary, comedy, experimental, music video and more, 17 films by Seattle’s budding auteurs will debut.
The films start promptly at 6 p.m. in The Alibi Room and will be followed by an after party for mingling with the filmmakers. Like we said, this is an excellent opportunity to catch up on all the amazing local talent we have here in Seattle and to show your support for independent filmmaking. We’ve had the pleasure of getting to know some of these filmmakers and if perhaps their techniques aren’t rock solid (yet), their enthusiasm is. It’s refreshing to see. Hope you can make it.
