Return of Lingerie Football Rounds Out Decent Sports Tuesday
Tuesday, the Mariners’ bats awoke for a solid 7-1 win over the Minnesota Twins. Nice work, gentlemen. But yesterday belonged to the ladies.
-Danielle Lawrie won the USA Softball Collegiate National Player of the year award for the second straight season yesterday. Even Roget has run out of words to describe her talent.
-In the battle of teams with conceptual non-plural names, the Storm clobbered the Atlanta Dream 90-72 last night on the shoulders of a Lauren Jackson double-double.
-Garfield High and UW quarterback Isaiah Stanback returned to the local football scene Tuesday, but so did the Lingerie Football League’s Seattle Mist. So, yeah, the women win again.
The Mist announced they'll return for their second season with two home games at Kent’s ShoWare Center, one in August, the other in October. Right now the Mist are only fifth out of 10 teams in the preseason power rankings posted on the league’s Web site. Normally we'd be upset about this kind of thing, but oddly, this is sort of just fine by us.
