Can't Miss It: Tuesday

SHORT ATTENTION SPAN: The Seattle version of the international 48-Hour Film Project is officially six years old and tonight, Northwest Film Forum will announce and screen the winning local films. A couple of weeks ago, 1,000 Seattle filmmakers were asked to create a 4-7 minute short (or long) film with a character, line of dialogue, prop, and particular genre. So if you're not already tuckered out from SIFF viewings, be sure to check out the best of the best in Seattle filmmaking.

7:00 p.m. // Northwest Film Forum, 1515 12th Ave. // Tickets: $6-9

SKINHEAD IN RECOVERY: Frank Meeink will be reading from his nonfiction novel, Autobiography of a Recovering Skinhead: The Frank Meeink Story tonight at Elliott Bay Books. Meeink, founder of the advocacy group Harmony Through Hockey, was a white supremacist, skinhead gang leader at age 16 and behind bars at the age of 18. From being in jail with those he was taught to hate and finding sobriety, among other things, Meeink was able to rise up against hatred and have a different outlook on life. If only EVERYONE could be like Meeink, or at least have the same epiphany...

7:00 p.m. // Elliott Bay Books, 1521 10th Ave. // FREE

'CAUSE EVERYONE LOVES THE DUDE: Central Cinema will be showing The Big Lebowski tonight and the thought alone of pizza, beer, and "The Dude" is enough to get us excited. Maybe it's been awhile since you've seen this all-time favorite, maybe you're a little worn out from SIFF and need some good ol' nostalgia. Whatever the reason, be sure not to miss this cult classic awesomeness with recent (woo hoo!) Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges. Ohhh. Yeah.

9:45 p.m. // Central Cinema, 1411 21st Ave. // Tickets: $5
