Extra, Extra

Our daily news roundup Good News, Bad News has been reborn as Extra, Extra, moving from mornings to afternoons. Let us know what you think!

  • Need a reason to stay off your damned phone on the bus, other than 'It's rude?' How about this - iPhones, Blackberries and other smart phones are some of the most popular targets for Seattle area public transit muggers.
  • Coming up short of the votes it needed to override Mayor Mike McGinn's veto, the controversial panhandling ordinance passed by the City Council last month is officially dead in the water.
  • Crusader for justice Tim Eyman has turned his eyes to one of the great injustices of our time, rededicating his efforts to ending child hunger in Washington...just kidding! He wants to ban red light cameras in Mukilteo or some shit. The very existence of freedom depends on it!
  • A gray whale spotted in the Snohomish River over the weekend has resurfaced near the Everett Marina, which is not even a particularly good place to be if you're a person, much less a whale.
  • Thinking of leaping to your doom from the Aurora Bridge, or just walking across it sometime in the next couple evenings? Not if our new suicide preventing fence has anything to say about it you're not. Work on the fence gets back on track tonight, which marks the cue for nearby residents to insert their earplugs...now.

Good news, Bad news was the only reason I read this site. If it stays like this, I'm probably just going to stop reading.

  • So glad everyone liked the news roundup, and thanks for weighing in as we experiment with how we're doing it. Andy, can I ask what you liked about Good News Bad News that you don't like about Extra, Extra? Is it the afternoon timing, the different format or something else?

I'm not Andy (obv), but I like the short blurby nature of Good New/Bad News.

Most of the news round up stuff I'd seen before somewhere else, so seeing super short teaser type notes, allowed me to quickly asses what I might want to click through on and what I already knew about.

    This take more reading...
