Sarah Palin Endorses Didier for Senate, Has a Message for the Border States

The former Governor of Alaska and noted Culture Warrior Sarah Palin endorsed former Washington Redskins player Clint Didier for his US Senate run yesterday. This news came as a surprise to Democratic leaders in the state, already plotting a campaign against Didier's likely primary opponent Dino Rossi. The maverick-y former VP candidate endorsed Didier despite recent polls showing that Rossi would be the strongest candidate against incumbent Senator Patty Murray in November.

After going to Clint Didier's website, we can clearly see why he's Palin's man. We recommend you check it out, and don't skip the intro! In it, a chalkboard listing Didier's achievements sits next to images of the farm-boy-turned-Super Bowl hero. All the while, the (soon to be taken down after the inevitable copyright infringement lawsuit) "Top Gun" score swells in the background. No wonder Palin likes him.

Didier is also considered a Tea Party activist, and this endorsement may hint toward a future for GOP nationally and the 2010 midterms this Fall. Palin-supported Dr. Rand Paul's win in the Republican Kentucky primary proves that Tea Party-favored candidates have a place within the party. It also cements the fact that, like it or not, Sarah Palin is one of the most influential endorsements a Republican can get these days.

Palin also had some things to say (albeit indirectly) the other day about immigration in our state. During an interview on Fox News Business she said "every other state on the border should emulate what Arizona has done," referring to Arizona’s new anti-illegal immigration policy. The wording of that law allows police officers to ask people for identification if there is a "reasonable suspicion" that they are illegal. But, smart locals here already know that the easiest way to spot suspicious illegals on this side of the border are by their floppy heads and beady eyes.
