Can't Miss It: Tuesday
CHEERS TO READING: The Seattle chapter of the international nonprofit Room to Read is hosting another one of their Beer for Books benefits tonight at The Bohemian in West Seattle. What could be a better excuse to drink on a Tuesday night than knowing all of your hard work will go to provide books to needy children from around the world? With each drink purchased, $1 will be donated to pay for the books and you'll be able to give yourself a big pat on the back while enjoying a free appetizer with this coupon. Put those drinks to good use!
6:00 p.m. // The Bohemian, 3405 California Ave. S.W. // FREE
LOCAL MUSIC DOCUMENTED: Northwest Film Forum will be showing a viewing of the films entered into their Concert Film Challenge tonight. For the challenge, local filmmakers were asked to make concert films no longer than five minutes in length documenting groups from the Seattle music scene. We wonder whose film will win and what band/group might be featured... fun stuff!
8:00 p.m. // Northwest Film Forum, 1515 12th Ave. // Tickets: $6-9
DIVORCE AND DOGS: Pete Nelson (not to be confused with local treehouse extraordinaire Pete Nelson) will be reading from his book I Thought You Were Dead tonight at the University District Seattle Public Library branch. The novel details a writer's divorce and how he faces life's day-to-day obstacles with the help of his dog Stella. Nelson, an NY writer and musician, will also be performing several of his songs.
6:30 p.m. // University District Seattle Public Library, 5009 Roosevelt Way N.E. // FREE
