Can't Miss It: Monday
WE XOXO THE XX: Did you know the British trio behind 'The xx' are barely out of their teens? Seems absurd, given how much their debut album 'xx' rules. The band's popularity went from 0 to 60 in practically no time at all, and it's well warranted. This is their first visit to Seattle since they've become an "it" band, check them out at Showbox SoDo!
7:00 p.m. // Showbox SoDo // $20
TAKE ME OUT TO THE BEER GARDEN: Baseball! Home opener! Beer garden! All good things. Come on out for the Mariner's home opener against the Oakland Athletics. We're off to a rocky start at 2-5, which means the M's need your support. Yes, you. Also, the A's have a player named Coco Crisp. For real!
7:10 p.m. // Safeco Field // $8-70
PIRATES AND DEATH RAYS: this reading with William Dietrich at University Bookstore caught our eye...the synopsis for his book "The Barbary Pirates: An Ethan Gage Adventure" is that it's a pirate attempting to stop a death ray. When the main character is hailed as "the early-nineteenth-century’s answer to Indiana Jones" you can't really go wrong, right?
