Good News, Bad News

First, the Good News:

  • The State Senate's proposed tax on beer will exempt our beloved microbrews. Whew!
  • Do you own a home? If so, it is probably worth more! If you don't own a home, take heart--someone else's home being worth more is probably still good for you. Don't ask us why - economics is complicated!
  • Bellingham's Western Washington University is one of just two schools left in the running to win $10 million by building a car that gets 100 miles to the gallon. And if it comes down to a swimsuit competition tiebreaker between WWU and Cornell--well, we like the Evergreen State's odds.
  • And hey, looks like we're getting a brand new BMW plant and the 180 or so jobs that go with it! Every little bit helps, right?

And the Bad News:

So this is a regressive tax on the blue collar guy who'd prefer his Coors Light to the $9 six pack of small batch, organic ale?

Where is the liberal outrage on this one?
