Prepping for Tonight's Sports '80s-style
Today is a huge sports day in our corner of the world, and we can't really stand it, having to keep our energy somewhat bottled in at the office. As noted earlier this week, tonight the Huskies look to make history and advance to the Elite Eight in the NCAA basketball tournament for the first time ever. Then the Sounders FC take the Qwest Field pitch to officially kick off the MLS in 2010, and build on last year's phenomenal season.
As we secretly write this on our work computer, we have a Rave Green Sounders jersey on underneath a Royal Purple Washington sweatshirt, so we're looking pretty electric and feeling the same way.
For the better part of the last hour, we've been listening to a playlist on headphones with "Right Now", "The Final Countdown", "You're the Best" and pretty much every other intense '80s anthem ever used in a dramatic montage where someone gets fired up and ready for something. We've had to control our air drum a little bit so as not to tip off the bosses, so we've thrown "Bow Down to Washington" onto the playlist, at which time we get the chills and want to stand up and scream "Rah! Rah! Rah!" when said part of the song comes up.
We are crazy, we know. But it's game night kids. And if you pick up your stuff at 4pm today and head to the bar, we think your boss will understand. Unless your boss is a Coug, in which case, you're not reading this because your work probably doesn't have complicated things like computers and the Interweb.
Bow Down! And, Go Sounders!
