It's Amateur Hour at La Spiga
Do you wish you were Mario Batali? I mean, I guess nobody really wants to be a rotund, red-haired Italian man who wears Crocs every day but cooking like him wouldn't be so bad, right? La Spiga are offering you the chance to prove you can write a recipe like the best.
La Spiga owners Sabrina Tinsley and Pietryo Borghesi are calling all amateur cooks to submit a spring Italian recipe for their menu contest. The winning recipe will be featured on La Spiga's spring menu, and the winning chef will recieve dinner for two from their tasting menu.
The rules:
- Cooks must be amateurs, and can be of any age.
- Recipes must incorporate "spring ingredients" - and if you're curious what that means, it's probably time to head to your local farmers market.
- Recipes must use six ingredients or less (that's not including oils, vinegars, seasonings, and garnishes).
- Directions must be written simply and include the total number of servings.
- Recipes must include inspiration and source, especially they're adapted from a cookbook. La Spiga wants to hear the story of the dish, because every dish has a history.
La Spiga will judge each recipe on how well it represents Italian cuisine. Originality, flavor combinations, and scailability for restaurant service will also be taken into consideration.
Entries must be recieved by March 22 -- winner announced March 31. Get cracking! To enter, email your recipe to contest@laspiga.com.
