Big in Japan: UW Wind Ensemble Present Japanese Tour Preview Concert

uw wind ensemble.jpg

March 9, you can head to the Meany Theater to see the UW Wind Ensemble, who will be presenting a preview concert in preparation for their upcoming tour of Japan. This tour is their third. Itsees the Ensemble continuing to export the culture of Seattle to Japan (and we don't mean that in any way that would offend Edward Said). The Ensemble will be presenting the world premier of “Precious Metal: A Concerto for Flute and Winds,” by D. J. Sparr, with featured solo flautist Donna Shin; “Ballet for Band,” by Cindy McTee; “Aurora Awakes,” by John Mackey; and “Concerto for Euphonium,” by Martin Ellerby, featuring soloist Danny Helseth.

7:30 p.m. // Meany Theater, 4001 University Way Northeast // $10
