Let's Move: Microsoft Buys Full-Page 520 Bridge Plan Ad

Microsoft has taken out a full page ad in the Seattle Times in favor of the current 520 bridge project plan. Headlined "Let's Move," the ad comes on the heels of Mayor Mike McGinn's recent comments against the current plan.

Thousands of Seattle residents use the 520 bridge to get to Microsoft each day in their commute, and Microsoft runs shuttles along the bridge to transport employees from Seattle to its headquarters in Redmond.

You can see the full ad on Microsoft's Posterous. They've also published a short editorial which focuses on their belief that the bridge plan needs to move forward immediately:

...While there are still some final design issues that need to be resolved with the City of Seattle, we should not let last-minute objections undermine the hard-won agreements already in place for the rest of the project. Doing so would cause yet more delay, increase the cost to taxpayers, and put this vital transportation and economic corridor at risk.

Traffic in Seattle remains the ninth worst in the nation. Critics of the current 520 plan point to its lack of light rail and bus lanes. State Sen. Ed Murray has pointed out that opponents of the plan want to move forward quickly - they're talking about weeks or months of discussion, not years.
