We've been dishing out tickets for Sound Off! and playing songs from each of the underage battling bands all week, but now it's time to let the musicians speak for themselves. We had a few questions for Candysound -- winners of last week's Sound Off! semi-final. Teo and Tom, the Bellingham drum and guitar duo, were kind enough to tell us a little about themselves and the music they enjoy.

Candysound hasn’t been a band for very long, what inspired you to come together?

"We were in a couple of bands apiece before Candysound, and we both happened to find ourselves band-less at the same time. We discovered that we both had a serious attitude toward music, so it was sort of an opportune happenstance." -Tom

You play plenty of shows, often with other young local bands. What does the “underage” Northwest scene look like to you?

"We usually end up playing with awesome bands. The scene has been especially inviting lately, because Sound Off! and other bands have been really cool to us. One of the best albums out now is The Oregon Donor's "A Pageants End." Also, our friends The Mission Orange, are recording an album right now, which I'm sure will be awesome. It's a great community to be in, and we end up drawing a lot of influence from locals. Other cool bands around right now are The Cat From Hue, Council of Lions, The Lonely Forest, and The Globes. Long story short; the Northwest scene is rad." -Tom

"I'm really digging The Masques, an indie rock trio from Mount Vernon. Their new EP 'Stories and the Sound' is really good driving music. I still really dig last year's Sound Off! contestants - The Make Up Monsters, and West Seattle's The Ronz, also a two piece, are one of the best party bands I've ever seen. Great Waves [semi-final contestants next week] (from Sammamish) are the opposite of a two piece, but fantastic musicians/rad people nonetheless. It's pretty crazy, most of music I've been listening to lately is local, being made by my friends and neighbors." -Teo

If you score a performance at Bumbershoot, what two bands would like most to play before and after your set and why?

"I would really like to meet the guys from Discovery and Little Joy, especially Binki Shapiro, but it would never happen... sigh." -Tom

"I'd love to open for a surprise Mazzy Star reunion. Does that count? That, and The Oregon Donor. As Tom said, check out their new album. It's some mind blowin', face meltin' Anacortes rock 'n' roll." -Teo
