Sound Off! An Underage Battle: Sea Fever

Sound Off Flyer.JPG.jpeg So far this week we’ve showcased three songs from Northwest underage groups Apache Chief, (Sui Generis) and Candysound. Rounding off the list of Sound Off’s first semi-final battle of the bands competitors is Seattle’s Sea Fever. The young, five member group shoots for acoustic driven folk/indie rock. Their song “Sibling Rivalry” leans more in the indie rock direction, featuring an early 2000s, pop-rock style steal string acoustic and lightly swinging drums. The vocals are understated and the harmonies are soft, but the song moves along steadily, adding plenty of electric accents. If this one track is any indication, Sea Fever carries the acoustic indie rock tradition nicely.

Check out all four of these “underage” bands this Saturday night at Sound Off! taking place at Experience Music Project (Tickets are $10 and doors are at 7:00 p.m.). The winner of this semi-final round advances to the finals on March 6 and stands a chance to score a slot at this year’s Bumbershoot or Northwest Folk Life Festival plus gear and recording consultation. Not a bad way to start the year.
