Tax Time at Seattle Public Library

Peter the Great used to tax beards*. We're guessing he'd be raking in the cash if he'd been born Tsar of modern Seattle rather than of 17th century Russia. North Carolina's had an "illegal drug" stamp tax in place since the 1990. About 80 people have purchased the stamps -- we're guessing most were stamp collectors? Or idiots?

Although taxes are much simpler for us in Washington state, some you still need help. Accounting for all that money you're making sure gets tricky.

Fortunately, the Seattle Public Library, the United Way of King County, and the AARP are offering free tax prep service from now until April at 10 locations of the SPL. They'll have trained volunteers on hand to answer questions and help prepare personal tax returns. Locations and times after the jump.
