Let's All Go to The Movies
It's a big old night for cinema with more in Seattle this evening, so let's get right to it.
Grand Illusion is kicking off their week long engagement of black metal doc Until The Light Takes Us All the right way, hosting a performance by local grindcore rockers The Abodox after tonight's 8 pm show. And if you're not too worn out afterwards, you can hang out even later that evening for The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Consider yourself forewarned - it gets a little blue.
Central Cinema has Jurassic Park early, but the real dinosaurs come out at 10 pm when the 80s Movie Anthem Sing Along makes it's triumphant, booze addled return to the screen.
For the film history crowd, the show of the night is at Northwest Film Forum, where tonight's showing of Rebel Without a Cause will be introduced by the film's screenwriter, Stewart Stern. And if that's not good enough for you... well, that just seems kind of ungracious -- but you can still get more Stern tomorrow when NWFF hosts an afternoon of discussion with him. Tickets here.
Oh yeah, tonight and tomorrow at midnight, you can catch The Royal Tenenbaums at The Egyptian. And you really should, because it's one of the straight up best films of the last ten years, and we don't care if we sound like hipster scum for saying so.
