Marty Riemer's Funny Festival: A Night of Stand-up Comedy at The Paramount
Paramount Theatre and the Seattle Theatre Group present Marty Riemer and Jodi Brothers' sixth annual Marty Riemer's Funny Festival this Friday with a fantastic cast of comedians including Bill Burr, Jeff Garlin, Nick Thune, and Kyle Cease. And, it's for a good cause--a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Seattle Humane Society of Bellevue.
Riemer and Brothers were known for their recently-ended program, The Marty Riemer Show, which aired on the radio station The Mountain (KMTT, 103.7), where Riemer had been a host since 1997. A Washington native, Riemer began doing radio at the young age of 13, and before joining Reimer on The Mountain, Jodi Brothers was a stand-up comedian and co-host at other popular radio stations.
This duo sounds like they really know how to put on a great comedy show, considering this is one of many festivals they've put together in the past, with others that have sold out in a matter of minutes.
Guest comedian Jeff Garlin, a.k.a. Jeff Greene on Curb Your Enthusiasm, has been a stand-up comedian for years, among starring in many other television shows and movies such as WALL-E and Arrested Development--it's also rumored that he may even be playing Babe Ruth in an upcoming movie, Keeper of the Pinstripes.
Nick Thune, is actually from right here in Seattle. As a comedian, actor, and writer, Thune has been featured on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and had his own Comedy Central half-hour comedy special iThunes, a series of short films from the internet.
Bill Burr, popular for his reoccuring role on the Chappelle's Show, has as well gone on to be featured on the Late Show with David Letterman, along with hosting his own HBO special and an hour-long Comedy Central program, Why Do I Do This?
And last but not least, Kyle Cease, who has become increasingly well-known and popular in recent years, is recognized for having worked with Comedy Central, being featured on the Jimmy Kimmel and Craig Ferguson late-night shows, along with having played roles in movies such as 10 Things I Hate About You and Not Another Teen Movie.
These four featured comedians along with Riemer and Brothers' veteran hosting skills will no doubt make for an excellent night of stand-up comedy, and the fact that the money from the event will be donated to the humane society only makes it that much better. So if you've been wanting to catch a great comedy show, now is the time--but keep in mind--past shows have sold out quickly so for the best seats you'll want to act fast.
