Squatters In Newspaper Offices

Not that you need a reminder of the recession, nor one of the fall of the newspaper industry, but here's one that sums both up: Staff at the Whidbey News-Times are in a bit of a furor after finding out that someone ("or something," adds the PI in a moment of parenthetical ghost-mongering) may be living in their building.

A couple of employees coming to work early Monday found a door propped open. Staffer William Bolles saw a strange figure disappear into the darkness.

Reeff led a number of employees to the creepy abandoned newsroom upstairs to check for intruders. Nobody was there, but they found a couple of windows were inexplicably unlocked and someone left a pair of sandals at a door that leads outside.

Homeless people hiding in the abandoned offices of one of the greatest institutions of the last 200 years. You can't make this up, folks, because no one would believe you if you did.
