With a Wink and a...

wink_cupcakes_300.jpg It's just the very start of the new year, and there's already lots of food action to report on from the top of Queen Anne.

Just the past few days, we've learned that Peet's closed, Sorrentino is trying to reinvent itself as Enza, and Julia's is becoming emmer&rye.

Today's sweet story? Wink Cupcakes finally opened today. Come one, come all, for cupcakes. We like the vanilla bean cake with Madagascar bourbon vanilla buttercream, and we're intrigued by the Guinness with frothy frosting. (Check out more of this Seattlest's cupcake thoughts here.)

The frosting on the cake? Wink will be selling Parfait Ice Cream, which means you don't have to wait for the truck to reappear later on this year. Adria Shimada's ice cream contains no corn syrup, no added stabilizers, and no preservatives. We recommend the fresh mint stracciatella,made from mint leaves that give it a natural, refreshing taste.

Hmm...any thoughts on good cupcake and ice cream pairings we should try?
