Can't Miss It: Monday
AMERICA, AMERICA, THIS IS YOU: It's the final week to feast your eyes on The Old, Weird America installation over at the Frye. The kooky collection--winner of the 2008 Best Thematic Museum Show award--rounds up a range of contemporary artwork with thematic ties to American forklore. A somewhat rambling, relevant pre-1960s America history lesson, even if the art itself is very...weird.
Through January 3rd // Frye Art Museum, 704 Terry Avenue // FREE
BEHAVING BADLY: The kids climbing the walls yet? Take 'em down to Seattle Center to run around at Winterfest, and the little monsters will hopefully be tired enough to sit through a performance of Peter Pan at the Seattle Children's Theater like nice, well-behaved young adults for freaking once! Good luck.
Winterfest runs through January 3rd, all day // Seattle Center // FREE
Peter Pan runs through January 10, showtimes vary // Seattle Children's Theater, 201 Thomas St. // Tickets: $23-42 for adults and $18-36 for children, depending on performance day/time
THE FISHTANK IS THE BEST PART: Also in its final week for the year is the Garden d'Lights show over at the Bellevue Botanical Garden. Armed with your Critter Map, wander freely through the garden paths and admire the varying animals, flowers and fauna handcrafted from LED lights. The show is free, but we implore even the scroogiest among you to donate at least a dollar at the door; since volunteers spent thousands of hours setting up this year's display.
Through January 2nd, 5:00 to 10:00 pm every evening Including holidays // Bellevue Botanical Garden, 12001 Main Street // FREE, recommended donation $1 per person or $5 per family, parking $5
