Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition Dec 18-20

OVERSEAS TOUR GUIDES: For those of you interested in travel, tonight three worldly entities bring you tales of foreign lands: The Maldives, from the Laccadive Sea, Hey Marseilles, hailing from the southeast coast of France, and Champagne Champagne, named for that province so nice they named it twice. It promises to be an edifying bill, like eating in a Paris restaurant where there are no prices on the menu.

Friday 8:00 p.m. // Neumos // Tickets: $10

SCHOOL'S OUT: It's time for our Schoolyard Heroes to graduate. They, and much loved ne'er-do-wells Kane Hodder, are disbanding, but not before one final blowout at El Corazon this Saturday. Dropouts and valedictorians are invited to hang from the huge pop hooks they'll hang in your heart. If that was the extent of the lineup, it would still meet recommendation standards; when joined by These Arms Are Snakes, Sirens Sister, and Blood Cells, this is a can't miss.

Saturday 7:00 p.m. // El Corazon // Tickets: $15

CHRISTMAS STOKINGS: You know what we miss? Variety shows. Hosted by Sonny & Cher, The Smothers Brothers, The Partridge Family, and now DJ Sam Rousso and Spencer Moody. Stoked on Christmas is their return to old-time variety with magic, jokes, and music from Tiny Vipers, Jenn GhettoYour Heart Breaks, and Ade. Guaranteed to lift your spirits and occupy your beard.

Saturday 10:00 p.m. // Odd Fellows Hall // Tickets: $20

DINA MARTINA: We'd be completely remiss if we went this entire holiday season without reminding you, just once, that Dina Martina is in town and won't be for much longer. Her annual one-of-a-kind Christmas show is currently snuggled up at Re-bar, snogging bartenders, and getting sloppy. We wouldn't want her any other way.

Sunday 2:00 p.m. // Rebar // Tickets: $20
