Don't Panic: Snow Beckons
It looks like this week’s sub-freezing temperatures may have been leading up to something after all--the world’s most advanced meteorological scrying machines and guesswork technology all agree there’s a fighting chance that this weekend will see Seattle’s first snow showers.
But this is not the time for panicked flashbacks to last year’s citywide shut down, for this year, we are prepared!
We have a new coordinator for this sort of thing, whose policy is to enact a no-holds-barred, salt the earth campaign, pretty much literally. Crews have been salting major roadways all week to ensure that in the event of snow, Seattle will keep moving pretty much as normal, courtesy of a new fleet of plows and the application of sodium chloride like it's going out of style. For more on the city’s new roads chief, his plan, and how you can take to the roads safely in icy conditions (HINT: If you can avoid it, DON”T) check out the Seattle Times coverage here.
