Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition, Nov. 27-29

ROCKABILLY QUEEN: Back in April, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted one Wanda Lavonne Jackson into its membership. Her name, like everyone's before her, was carved into a marble stone stolen from the Parthenon using a golden railroad spike. It's pretty hardcore in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So is Ms. Jackson. Back in the 50s and 60s, she pioneered a catchy mix of country and rockabilly and been refining it ever since. Tonight you can catch her at The Tractor, along with and/or aided by Marshall Scott Warner, Petunia & the Vipers.

Friday 9:00 p.m. // Tractor Tavern // Tickets: $18

THAT 1 GUY: You know who we're talking about. The classically trained bassist who plays The Magic Pipe (an industrial piping sculpture, rigged with loopers, stompboxes, samplers, and one long string, topping out at nearly seven feet)? Exactly. We knew you'd remember. He's playing Neumo's Saturday. If we weren't out of town with family, we'd be right there with you.

Saturday 8:00 p.m. // Neumos // Tickets: $12.50

WE'RE MISERABLE NOW: The King of Mope commands the stage of the Paramount this Sunday. We speak, of course, of Morrissey. Since dismissing The Smiths, Mr. M has built an impressive discography cataloging his various maladies, misanthropic tendencies, and heartfelt pleas. If, after a weekend of family, you need an emotional release, Morrissey's your man. Because when we speak of tears, we speak of Morrissey.

7:30 p.m. // The Paramount // Tickets: $52-72
