EcoLavish: Rollin' Out the Green Carpet

Special to Seattlest by fashion writer Cameron Levin.

You know you're at a fashion show in Seattle when a dog makes an appearance on the runway and the theme is all about recycled and refurbished fashion and organic fabrics. The 2nd annual EcoLavish fashion show at the Engine Room in Georgetown embraced all that is Seattle, and maybe even kicked things up a notch.

ecolavish.jpg Seattle may have independent green fashion designers, but only one event brings them together. EcoLavish is (surprisingly) Seattle's only existing fashion show that is exclusively dedicated to promoting and celebrating green beauty and fashion, featuring local eco-conscious designers, retailers and other green businesses.

The event showcased the spring line of Deco Modiste, Texture, Seamless in Seattle winner Renee Corrick of Six Degrees and nationally renowned eco-designer Lizzie Parker. This year, designers trended in using sustainable products and textiles versus recycling vintage materials. Corrick’s glamorous architectural cocktail line is made from 100% silk hemp and featured recycled paper and wood jewelry by Think Now Jewelry. Parker’s holiday party dress collection also brought drama, glamour and surprise with a cohesive line featuring lots of fringe, sequins, metallic, long sleeves (a projected trend for the fall and winter), frayed edges, opulent, draped tops and darling hoodies in unsuspecting fibers like organic bamboo jersey and hemp silk.

EcoLavish is brought to us by Seattle's own independent event production company, Half Past Lavish, and organizes some of Seattle's top fashion events, like Project Red Dress, IMAGINE and the Boho Fashion Shows.
