GREEN HOTNESS When we think of the Engine Room in Georgetown--once home to the old Rainier Brewery co-- it evokes images of assembly lines and billowing black smoke from chimneys of turn of the century, industrial-era factories. Hence, the perfectly ironic "make a statement" venue to host the 2nd annual Eco-Lavish Fashion Show, Seattle's only fashion event that exclusively highlights local green designers. Featured designers include Lizzie Parker, Deco-Modiste, 6 Degrees Studio and Texture Clothing. SO SCIENCE IS A CIRCUS?: Richard Dawkins discusses his new book, The Greatest Show On Earth, which presents new evidence for evolution. We were pretty satisfied with the old evidence, but then we’re probably not who he’s trying to reach. Having not yet read the book, we’re not entirely sure we get the title, but nobody explains evolutionary theory better than Dawkins. If you need a reminder of who Dawkins is arguing against, here’s Kirk Cameron explaining the banana.

ALMOST FAMOUS: Chona Kasinger shows Almost Famous, a selection of her dynamic concert photography at the West Seattle Cupcake Royale. We've shown her photographs on Seattlest in the past -- her bright, active images of artists on-stage and off remind us why we started going to shows in the first place. Her show runs through October, with an opening party tonight is part of the West Seattle 2nd Thursday Art Walk.
