Brown-Bagging It, Bottleworks

When one jump-starts the synapses in the old melon, thoughts of beer in a paper sack often evoke images of the corner derelict. For those of us that prefer an occasional hand-crafted sip compared to the over-indulgent we have options around the neighborhood.

Over on 45th in the Wallingford neighborhood and just a few blocks from Big Time Alehouse is the beer equivalent of a bottleshop. Since 1999, Bottleworks has been providing guidance to those that gravitate to its stellar selection of beer from around the world. The 'shop’s founders, known only as “the Matts,” are none other than Matt VandenBerghe and Matt Bonney. With previous experience at Maritime Pacific the two colleagues got together and started what today is a nationally recognized icon for craft beer geeks.

With over 950 different beers (and always adding more) you won’t walk out empty handed. Local and out of town beers are featured side by side to nudge that curiosity to compare Elysian Immortal with Russian River Pliny the Elder. If you find yourself stuck frozen over the daunting task of choosing one or two you can pay a small fee and crack it open in the store. Bottleworks is a great bottleshop that will never disappoint those in search of an awesome tagged and bagged brew to go.

Cheers
