You’ve probably heard by now that Dan Aykroyd will be in Seattle next week promoting his Crystal Head Vodka. Aykroyd also distributes Patron tequila and operates a winery. We'd like to offer some perspective--while it’s a little weird that the SNL alum is involved in distillery, it's fairly common for actors and filmmakers of a certain age. Francis Ford Coppola has been operating a well-respected winery since 1975, and no one who’s seen Danny Devito drunk on a morning show is likely to forget his line of limoncello. (There are also the Jerry Garcia and Elvis Presley lines of wine, but I doubt either Jerry or Elvis had much of a hand in starting those brands). We’d buy a vineyard and start making wine, if we had the money to buy a few dozen acres of prime Sonoma County land. Dan Aykroyd selling vodka and wine seems pretty normal to us.
But we’re not trying to dissuade you from meeting Dan Aykroyd! Vodka's always seemed like a boring spirit to us. We suggest you focus on what’s truly and awesomely bizarre about him: his UFO obsession. Dan Aykroyd is a very sincere UFO buff and has been since his 2006 sighting of a UFO. He claims to have footage of a UFOs which were sighted over Chicago's O’Hare airport. He’s also a lifetime member of the Mutual UFO Network and their official Hollywood consultant
Aykroyd produced Dan Aykroyd: Unplugged, a documentary (starring himself) about UFO sightings. You can catch the whole thing on Google Video if you’ve got 80 minutes to kill. It’s wild. He spoke about it on Anderson Cooper:
Dan Aykroyd will be at Washington State Liquor Store #101 in SoDo on Tuesday, Sept. 29 from 4-6 pm. and at the U-Village store Sept. 30 from 4-6 p.m.

Tuesdays are Muppet Days
