- Mayoral candidate Mike McGinn released a position paper on immigrant and refugee policies (PDF). Writes McGinn: "As Mayor of Seattle, I will ensure that these new Americans are welcomed into our city and our neighborhoods with open arms."
- The Seattle Times reported that minority group leaders called both McGinn and Joe Mallahan "strangers," and not in the Balki-Bartakamos wacky roommate way. When pressed for evidence of his skill in community organization, Mallahan has previously pointed to his work as a community activist in Chicago with United Power for Action and Justice, the community organization that trained Barack Obama. McGinn has talked about the influence his parents have had on him. McGinn’s father, the son of Irish immigrants, was involved with inner-city youth programs in Long Island, while his mother founded a preschool program for disadvantaged children.
- Publicola reported that the Mallahan campaign has enlisted Christian Sinderman, a local campaign consultant who’s also involved with the Sally Bagshaw city council and Dow Constantine King County Executive campaign. Sinderman, who has a long record of campaign success, is officially only "informally" involved with the campaign
