Great Scots: Tonight at Neumos

If you’re like us, there are certain cities and countries you feel that you know quite well. We won’t necessarily brag about the length of our list. But for the places that do make the cut, we're fairly confident that our self-proclaimed "expertise" would stand up to intense scrutiny by our most discerning peers.

On our list of known places, along with the Emerald City, is a majestic place where cloud cover not only equals but quite possibly surpasses that of our beloved Pugetopolis. We’ll cut the guessing game short. The place we speak of? Scotland. Having spent quite a bit of time there visiting our families, we deemed ourselves to be pretty knowledgeable of all things Scottish, haggis included.

That is, until we learned last week that the country’s disgusting famed national dish might actually be from England. With our fundamental understanding of Scotland shattered, we now feel it is our duty to ensure your Scottish perceptions are shaken up as well. Stepping back from the world of culinary horrors delights, we now invite you to turn your attention to aural pleasures.

To those of you who only identify the soundtrack of Scotland as bagpipe tunes and/or the sunny pop of Belle & Sebastian, we implore you to spend some time with tonight’s Neumos lineup.

We wholeheartedly recommend tonight's complete lineup--a trio of brilliant Scottish bands who specialize in emotive rock, without diving into the cheesy territory often occupied by fellow countrymen Snow Patrol.

(Frightened Rabbit, The Twilight Sad, We Were Promised Jetpacks. Doors at 8 pm, 21+, $13 adv, at Neumos)
