These burgers exist on a plane no other burgers could ever wish to achieve--because they're so far away they don't even know this magical, tasty level exists. If Redmill, Burgermaster, and Fatburger joined forces to create a burger love child...it would be unseemly far from even coming close. Seriously, seriously, SERIOUSLY.
On 15th in Ballard, the Lunchbox Laboratory is on the small side and comes off as a touch haphazard, but lovable. The vintage lunchbox-lined interior is pretty small, making the huge board of options even more intimidating. Ingredients offered vary, but a good selection is available regularly. Meats: super beef (100% beef blend), lamb, dork (duck-pork), prime rib, buffalo, filet mignon, and red quinoa-falafel. Cheeses: 10-15 per day, from cheddar to goat cheese and everything in between. Toppings: maple bacon, red bell pepper relish, pickled jalapenos, pepperoncinis, lunchbox onions, candied balsamic onions, cornbeef chili. Sauces: Basil aioli, satan's habanero ketchup, stone ground horseradish, papas sweet chile bbq, jalapeno ranch, mayo, honey vinegar french, and on and on and ON. Choose from skinny shoestring fries, tater tots, or sweet potato fries, with around 10 different seasoning salts. Or, if you grossly misunderstand the size of a human stomach, try a side like potato salad, beanie weenies, or mac and cheese. And of course, a selection of 25+ chocolate- and vanilla-based implausibly delicious milkshakes is also available.
Service is quick and you'll soon be directly faced with a burger fit for Apollo. It's staggering! So tall, so substantial, so fused to perfection and wafting in the good kind of grease. It's not just that it's a big meat-tastic burger (although it is that too, of course); it's that it just tastes amazing. The simple but pure ingredients all melt into each other creating the perfect burger orgy in your mouth. Get the half pound--but for the love of god, share it if you want to walk away still in any command of your mental and physical faculties.
Hats off to the owner Scott for a job unthinkably well done. Do yourself a favor and suck down a Nutella milkshake or 30. And get your world rocked.

Isabella Rossellini Brings Green Porno to Benaroya

Doubly agree. The atmosphere is a bit frantic and harsh on your blood pressure, but the final product is far and away the best I've had in the city. Went for the Truffle Love and a Banana Cream milkshake and both were, sadly, the two best things to have ever been in my life.
Much better than the secret family in Puyallup.
I'm over Lunchbox Lab.
It's fun and unique, and great to go once, but i can find better "pure" burgers (focus on the meat, not the toppings) elsewhere. And the crazy toppings are fun but not enough to make it a "great burger place"
Also, why don't they go 1/3 of a lb burgers, considering all the toppings they add? I feel like 1/4 is too small (overwhelmed by toppings), 1/2 is too big.
