Special to Seattlest by Paul Orch, craft beer advocate and writer.
It's September and that means dying leaves, cooler mornings, and darker beers. Up on the 'Hill is the brewery and restaurant that inspired this Autumn mention. Located on 1221 E Pike Street is Elysian Brewing who produce a unique beer and festival centered around pumpkin beers including Night Owl Pumpkin Ale.
Night Owl produces a frothy head emoting vanilla whip cream that fades into an ocean of amber. Essences of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice are smelled within. Sipping this one recalls the previously mentioned characteristics along with some ginger and allspice. Overall this beer isn't heavy on the tongue and almost inspires one to go perform homicide on a large orange gourd.
Seek this out at bottle shops like Pike Street Beer & Wine, Bottleworks, PCC, Whole Foods, and Central Market in the coming weeks. Or call up the nearest Elysian and see when they will have this beer on draft at the brewery.

So when exactly is this beer going to be available? I plan to get a ton of it. I love this stuff.
I found my first bottle over at Whole Foods (Roosevelt&65th). But I know some other places are going to start getting it this week. You can always call up the brewery and ask when they will have some in their pubs (Tangletown, Fields, Capitol Hill).
Cheers
Was at Elysian Fields by the stadiums last night and they didn't have it yet. :(
Just got word its on at Capitol Hill. Lemme know if you find it at the other locations. I also found some Great Pumpkin (Imperial Night Owl).
Cheers
