This is What You Missed over the Weekend

Flash mobs dancing to "Beat It" in honor of Michael Jackson's August 29 birthday. Jackson would have been 51. At Kerry Park, Pioneer Square, and Pike Place Market:

We're of two minds about this. We cringe a little in embarrassment for these people, because dancing in a public place in front of bewildered tourists is our own private nightmare.

On the other hand, we've never been able to master Jackson's side-hand-waggle (boy, did we try) and that guy in the red jacket pulls it off with amateur charm.

More about the events. It'll be kind of touching if this becomes an annual event.
