Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition Aug. 28-30

Wayzgoose.jpg WAYZGOOSE!: We swear no geese are involved (or will be harmed) during Saturday's 8th Annual Letterpress Wayzgoose, a day to creatively honor the letterpress; expect demos, shop tours, and cool designs. Make sure not to miss the Steamroller Letterpress Smackdown! There is nothing cooler than blending the letterpress traditions of the 17th century with the 21st century techniques, design, and horsepower. You'll watch design teams create a poster and then try printing it with a two-ton steamroller, used in place of the traditional printing press.

1:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., Sat. // School of Visual Concepts, 500 Aurora Ave. N. // Free, pre-registration is requested

MURAL OF THE HIGH SEAS: Make your way to the Central District on Saturday night to witness local artists Pixel.Tron and Karl Addison unveil the neighborhood's newest mural of epic proportions, featuring the brilliantly painted battle of Squid vs. Whale. We previously mentioned when artist Karl Addison was first painting the 60-foot wall, and now 50-plus cans of paint and 60 hours of painting later, the creatures' giant story has been told.

6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m., Sat. // The Twilight Exit, 2514 East Cherry // Tickets: Free

GOOD DREAMS VS. NIGHTMARES: If you're fascinated with the sci-fi/fantasy movie world, Ink is certainly the movie for you. In a fight over the mind's slumber, Ink blends the waking reality and fantasy between two opposing forces who either plant good dreams or catastrophic nightmares during sleep. But when a young girl is stolen by the sinister nightmare-inducing Incubi--well, at this point, we closed our eyes during the trailer's scary parts. The Northwest Film Forum will feature a late night screening of the original--already approaching cult status--indie film this weekend.

11:00 p.m., Sat. & Sun. // Northwest Film Forum, 1515 12th Avenue // Tickets: $6-9
