So We Think We Can Dance

Episode 3 of this season of America's Best Dance Crew was on last night, and this week's challenge was to incorporate martial arts moves into each crew's dance routine. Local b-boys Massive Monkees drew extreme martial arts, a "rapid-fire, acrobatic style of martial art," as opposed to all those slow-moving, really clumsy forms. The Monkees were eager to take on the 540 kick, which is a jump-and-kick-while-twisting kinda thing. It did not look easy, which explains why only one member of the crew actually executed the move during their performance (starting at 1:05 in the video above).

To the judges' table: Shane Sparks said they had a "very, very exciting routine," and said some of their moves were "taking it to the next level," but he rightly called them out for not all the members doing the 540. THEMS THE RULEZ. JC Chasez liked the headstand and thought the "combat fighting" was "clean," though the tornado kicks were a little sloppy. Lil Mama agreed that they all should have done a 540, so they didn't really complete their task, but their routine was still "action-packed" and their "performance was swell." Massive Monkees were again saved from being in the bottom two, and so, 540 or no, they easily move on to next week's show.
